This weeks prompt was in the flash of lightning I saw. I don’t know why I chose to write about a scene like this but I believe it turned out pretty well. Enjoy. 🙂
Turtle huddled up to me in a hurry. Another clap of thunder shook the house. No matter where we were you could always hear or see the lightning. My younger sister, Turtle squealed, her small green eyes glistening with fear. The thunder seemed to get louder by the second, one seemed to last an awfully long time. But in the flash of lightning I saw a man. A man with pale grey skin, a deadly smile and eyes with no emotion. I stared. I slashed at the thick dense jungle, sweat dripped down my forehead as I made my way towards the wide clearing. My hair began to undo itself out of my ponytail, I sighed and reluctantly gathered all the loose strands. Dehydration had spread itself over my body. I collapsed against a cold, smooth rock. As I reached for my drink bottle, the horror unfolded in front of my eyes, an abandoned temple stood before me. And within those walls a group of ugly orange crocodiles guarded what seemed to be a door. I stood up and they began growling…
100 Word Challenge #30
This week’s 100 Word Challenge’s prompt was … I just couldn’t eat something so…. I was very excited to write something related to this. I was inspired by the duo Hamish and Andy to write about a snake’s heart. This was from there show Gap Year Asia, specifically Cultural Eating. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing about this.
The marble floors were a warm welcoming, linen was neatly folded on my designated table. My stomach churned, not because I was hungry but because I knew I would be sick. My companion Rachel went into the kitchen to check on my meal. Minutes later the waiter arrived, pushing a trolley with a covered dish on it. The attendant lifted the shielded plate revealing a beating snake’s heart. Rachel bet $1000 that I couldn’t eat it, but I couldn’t, I just couldn’t eat something so horrendous. The waiter tipped the heart into the glass full of snake blood. It was tradition….

Activity 2. After watching the two videos, write a post about your digital footprint. Is it positive or negative? Would you be proud to have your grandparents or your future grandchildren look at everything you have included in your digital footprint? Why or why not?
I don’t believe I have done anything inappropriate online so I have nothing to be ashamed of. My digital footprint would be nothing but pretty big. Although I haven’t done anything bad digitally wise, I still find it very creep and wrong that people can check up on what websites you’ve been on.
Activity 3. Imagine you are debating this topic: It is better to have a negative digital footprint than no footprint at all. Give three reasons to support each side of the debate.
My strongest reason to having a negative digital footprint is that if something awful were to happen to you then investigators could possibly find out how that happened. You could meet a new friend online. (Can’t think of another reason for this bit.)
A few of the reasons I have for not owning a digital footprint is you know you definitely will not have a stalker. Secondly you will have the privacy that you are entitled to. No, one will bother you online.
Activity 4. With so many students now involved in social media such as facebook, instagram, pinterest and twitter, how much information are they leaving by not checking their privacy settings but leaving things on default?
Many websites assume you want your location public but you don’t, by not checking these settings you could inform people where you are at that time. You could also give more private information out to the world if you do not check your settings.
Activity 5. Write a post about 5 of your favourite web tools or apps. In your post mention how old you need to be to use it, whether you had to sign up to use it and what type of tool or app it is e.g. mind mapping, poll/survey, slideshow. Also tell me why you enjoy using the tool or app.

- https://kahoot.it/#/ – Kahoot Quiz: A simple way to create quizzes and surveys, this website does need you to sign up. Kahoot is an enjoyable and entertaining way to quiz your friends and family.
- https://prezi.com – Prezi: A unique website that allows you to create and customise a unique presentation, this website requires a sign up which is very simple to create. I enjoy this app because it’s just a unique way to present something.
- http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/search?s=t – Thesaurus: A simple no sign up thesaurus. I love this app because when you’re to lazy to get an actual Thesaurus you can just use an online version.
- https://nz.ixl.com/math/ – IXL: A maths and english site, this page dose need you to sign up and pay a certain amount of money to become a member. I like this site because when I’m bored I have nothing else to do.
Term 1 Holidays
The Term 1 holidays began with the Easter holidays. I spent most of the Term 1 holidays out and about at tennis and hockey. On Friday, I played the Tier 2 Central Tennis Tournament. I came 2nd in the consolation round and 3rd in doubles. Straight after that tournament I competed in the Hutt Valley Tennis Championships. In this tournament I didn’t get a placing. On the last Thursday of the holidays my hockey team (P1 Karori Girls) played a game against the boys. We lost 2-0 🙁 . That’s all I did these holidays. 🙂
